:: dawanda fabric swap ::

While in Hamburg I had the opportunity to swap some fabric with other fabric lovers from dawanda. A huge parcel full of fabric and other goodies was waiting for me at Steffi's.

Here is what I took from the parcel:

And this is some fabric from my stash that I put into the parcel:

Lucky coincidence!

I am very pleased! I was able to do a little swap with Simmy and I got the nuigurumi-book that I've wanted for some time now and that isn't available anywhere it seems!

So last weekend I made a little bear. It's quite small and therefore takes quite a long time to make. I think I should enlarge the pattern if I want to make another one...

The opening at the neck was a bit too large and instead of making it smaller (never even occured to me until this morning) I gathered it a bit. It didn't look too great, so he needed a little scarf or something. Well, that's what he looks like now. Any idea for a name?

swappy di swap

I finished my swap with Satomi who sent me a couple of travel brochures (well, I did ask for them!) and catalogues from felissimo. That must be marvellous shop. She also sent a calendar with funny stickers, fabric, beautiful origami paper and little photo albums for the kids. I had asked for the kids' names witten in Japanese characters and they both started practising right away - great fun indeed!

Here are pictures of the things Satomi sent:

swap pix

I am not really in the mood for blogging at the moment but I meant to post pix of the things I got from Mayumi, so here they are:

marvellous fabrics, some trim and buttons, Japanese craft books, a guide to eating and shopping in Portland (looks great!) and wonderful chop sticks! I really love everything she sent! I just wish I knew if she received her package as well!!

A close up of the fabrics. Yet another incentive to get a new sewing machine, I am saving...

In the meantime I keep myself busy crocheting. Last night I made a couple of flowers. The photograph is a bit out of focus:

Swapping with Olivia

This was my third swap but the first swap where both packages arrived. I still haven't heard from Mayumi - hopefully she got her box. I still didn't get mine. Ivy from Singapore wrote to me a couple of days ago that she is still waiting for her box. That's a real pity because I even made jam especially for her... and I received her package shortly after she sent it. I hope she will get her goodies soon!
So this was the second swap package that I received - and it was full of marvellous things. Olivia sent some beautiful fabrics and buttons, a magazine (missing in the picture) and sweets (the twins are at the moment tasting all the different flavours of the jelly beans!). She also sent a little pouch and a bag which she made herself I think! The kids are fighting over the sweetest stickers I have ever seen.

Here's a close up of the fabrics. Another incentive to get a new sewing machine - as if I needed one...

Olivia made this beautiful bag which is perfect to tote around a little knitting. Thank you so much, Olivia!

Bomb threat? Swapping with Ivy!

Still no package from Portland but I got a little package from Singapore. Ivy sent me tiny pieces of fabric and some trim and ribbon. She also sent some sweets the children will definitely love. She enclosed a little craft book on patchwork. And there are two obscure thingies that look like fire crackers. I think it will be safer to wait for Ivy's explanation before trying them... Thank you Ivy and I hope you like our package!!

This is everything Ivy sent from far away Singapore. Sorry for the crappy photographs...

Bomb threat in Berlin? Maybe! I am not sure if these little things are fire crackers, little bombs or sweets?? They are called haw flakes... will there be a flour explosion when you bite into them?

And here is a close up of the fabric. I think it's very nice. I hope to use it soon!
